The original title seems to be in error and should be:

"6th Marines on post at Hammerstein on the Rhine, Germany 1-9-19 NARA111-SC-44943-ac"

Local Historian,

Erich Walther writes:

"A place that is located

in direct neighborhood

to Leutesdorf am Rhein.

The two soldiers stand on

the rock on which

the castle ruin Hammerstein is located.

A castle that was mentioned for the first time in the year 1000 in documents.

Below this castle is a historic church and listed buildings."
