The town of Corfu on the Island of Corfu, off the Albanian coast on the Adriatic.
This was the end of Serbia's "Road of Sorrow".
To this port the remnants of the Serbian army retreated for reorganization in 1915-16,
followed by 30,000 young boys.
Most of them died along the way and 2,000 perished in this town.
A small steamer put out of this port each night with an average of 100 bodies abaord.
They were dumped into the sea as graves could not be dug fast enough

Stars and Stripes in Dalmatia.
Some 60,000 Serbs,
who had emigrated to America, returned during the war to fight for their motherland.
This shows a Serb outpost in Dalmatia manned by volunteers from Gebo, Wyoming.
Many of these American Serbs have been demobilized and are being helped
to return to their adopted country by the American Red Cross

In Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, the most important state in the new kingdom of Jugo-Slavia, the Kings Guard of the old regime still holds forth.
A detachment is coming away from the palace on the right.

This cavalcades of twenty teams of water buffalo is on the way from a station on the main railroad of the Salonica-Mitrovitza railroad to the town of Prizren in Western Serbia.
The distance is thirty miles but the water buffalo take two days and two nights, the convoyers eating and sleeping by the roadside.
The leading wagon always carries wood for the fires at night.
The road shown here was built by the German and Austrian armies during their occupation.
They expected to remain in this part of the country a long time.
Their road-building has been an immense help to the Serbians in reconstruction

Serb college life revived by Americans.
The University of Serbia, at Belgrade was hard hit by the enemy invasion.
In order that studies might be resumed this Fall the American Red Cross established a camp for students and supplemented their rations.
This shows the camp in course of construction under the direction of a Red Cross Officer

The house that Fritz built.
German prisoners constructing students' barracks at Belgrade, Serbia under American direction.
In order to aid the University of Serbia to open this Fall, the American Red Cross built a camp where students could live and aided the College to obtain the necessary equipment.
The University had been closed down for four years and without this American Assistance,
could not have resumed its work until 1920
