The tail gives very small at the top SPAD VII
(roman for 7).
The serial is S 118, meaning the 118th machine bought from SPAD by the Aviation Militaire.
This is a very early one as
S 111 is the earliest known serial for a SPAD VII.

Kees Kort Comments
The SPAD single seat fighter fitted with a 37 mm cannon was the SPAD XII (roman number for 12).
The full identification of
the Aviation Militaire was SPAD XII Ca 1,
where Ca stood for the category Canon (Cannon) and '1' for single seat.
The design was unpopular as twelve shots could be maximally fired by hand
by the pilot who had to reload in flight.
Firing a shot filled the cockpit with gases !

An unbelievable situation where the pilot cannot be envied.
The SPAD XII Ca 1 was fitted with a single 7,7 mm Vickers machine gun (not two)
On the picture is an early prototype as later the wings were modified and fitted with rounded tips.
French SPAD Canon same as SPAD 13C1
except for 37mm canon shooting through hun of propeller plus 2 fixed guns ca1918
