As the country slid into World War I, rationing began and we see the grocer punching the woman's cards for the things she bought that day.
He is supposed to instruct his customers on how not to waste food.
Above the butcher with his handy saw hanging beside him is a fly paper hung over the light fixture with a goodly supply of dead flies.

Frankford Arsenal
In the first years of the twentieth century,
and through World War I, Frankford Arsenal
produced mainly small arms ammunition—a new cartridge factory facility was installed in the old Rolling Mill.

Kees Kort Comments
The serial of this airframe can be seen at the tail section '32114', making it one of series of 3000 (!) DH-4 ordered with serials 30059 - 33058.
Various US manufacturers made DH-4 machines for this order, but given the sequence this is a Boeing built sample (DH-4-M).
These were crated and transported to France where they were assembled as
seen here for instance.
Great picture, which by the way shows the big way women added to the war effort during WW1.
