and led into the Bosche trenches returned
to find his master five weeks afterwards,
it was covered with vermin and its mistress
had to have him clipped not only for cleanliness
but so as to avoid a fine or punishment which the Germans would certainly have inflicted upon
her had they recognized the dog in her hands

Packages flow steadily and a corps of workers are kept busy handling it.
Mrs. Farone, a prominent member of the American colony in Paris
is in charge of the handling of the soldiers mail and she has a man’s job on her hands.
This pile of packages will bring joy to the hearts of the boys at the front
between 1917 and 1920

Prominent American women of the Lyceum Club in Paris, are packing comfort kits
for Uncle Sam's fighting men at the Western front.
These kits reached the men on New Years, and they were pleasant and useful gifts,
and the soldiers will derive much benefit and comfort from them
between 1917 and 1920
